Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers can cover up areas at the front of the smile that are flawed or imperfect. If your child or teen has severe staining, discoloration, gaps, cracks and spaces, we might recommend veneers. The beauty about veneers is that they simply sit over the front teeth, so it takes very little work in order to prepare the teeth to have them placed. Most veneers can last for roughly 10 years before they should be fully replaced.

Why might Porcelain Veneers be needed?

If your teen is unhappy with their smile and looking for a dramatic change, veneers might be the best choice for them. Veneers are ideal in that they cover an array of different cosmetic issues like stains, discoloration, chips, cracks, gaps and large spaces. Rather than go through the hassle of other cosmetic procedures, veneers can be made and placed in just two short visits. Because they are custom-made for your child, they look and feel completely natural.

Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

To determine if your child is a good candidate for porcelain veneers, it is important that they come in for an examination. With a simple exam, we can determine if your child will benefit from these restorations. The front teeth should be otherwise healthy and free of decay and other issues. If older veneers need to be replaced, we can do this effortlessly in the office.

What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

The veneer procedure is going to begin with the preparation of the front teeth. Little to no anesthetic is necessary in order for the front teeth to be filed down to make room for the new veneers. Impressions are then taken to be used to make the actual veneers. Your child will then come in for a second appointment so that we can place the actual veneers. It is important that the veneers be brushed and flossed in order to keep them looking their best.
